Beasts Clawing At Straws - An interesting tale of A Louis Vuitton Bag

Winner of the special jury prize at the recent Rotterdam Film Festival, this Korean dark crime thriller is wicked and fun to watch. Divided into 6 chapters and with eight characters, this enjoyable flick offers plenty of small twists and turns revolving around a lost and found bag full of money. In this narration of greed and violence, each individual story line has its own charm. It is not the most original film, but this multi-segmented tale of people scrambling for money is proportionately an interesting take.

In the last 20 minutes, all the pieces of the puzzle finally fall into place and a scenario rather well put together and its a convincing finale. The story is presented with a good dose of humor throughout. The film will remind us of few older Cohen Brothers movie. A striking cinematography and the beautiful score compliments the story line well. Barring few coincidences to stitch together the pieces, i didn't find much fault with this strong directorial debut. A pleasant surprise indeed.

Verdict - 3.5/5(The loot case)
