The Residence is a delightful addition to the subgenre. It presents a screwball murder mystery, reminiscent of an Agatha Christie whodunit, featuring a diverse array of suspects. The narrative is occasionally absurd yet immensely entertaining. The humor, including its meta aspects, is expertly crafted, and the characters act set in the White House significantly enhance the entertainment value.

The series offers a compelling premise. At an opulent White House state dinner attended by over 100 guests, the chief usher is discovered dead, prompting a lockdown investigation led by an eccentric Miss Marple-like figure.

The narrative unfolds uniquely through a Senate hearing committee detailing the case. The proceedings are clever, quick-witted, and innovative. With lavish production design and sharp dialogues, the series offers a comfortable and stylistic experience. The Residence effectively utilizes its large ensemble cast to maintain audience engagement throughout much of its runtime.

The primary drawback lies in the repetitive application of the same formula, leading to lengthy episodes that sometimes fail to advance the plot. Nonetheless, I appreciated this blend of twist-filled mystery and satire. The intriguing dynamics among the staff members keep viewers guessing until the end. If you seek something light-hearted, this is a worthy choice.

Verdict - 3.5/5 (Cordelia Cups It)

Light hearted and quick witted. Got a little stretchy towards the end though. There were tiny bits that were unexpectedly entertaining like the conversation between the senators, the 3rd man. the boyfriends mom
