When i initially looked at the poster, thought its a story about a treasure hunt. And it looked very familiar to a Bengali movie poster. But this turned out be a totally different setup. A lovely and enjoyable 8 episode fare from Amazon ticks in the right boxes. Its not the story but the characters that will keep you invested. Panchayat is about the story of a young public servant struggling to adjust to his new life in a remote village where he gets posted. Using the concept of the village as a microcosm for contemporary Indian society, this is fined tuned with with lot of elegance and hidden satire. There are quiet a lot of moments to take away in this sweet and memorable show. Each episode has a story to tell and chotu problems to solve. The only sore thumb for me was the episode 6. The journey into the remote village of UP is told with lot of humor and in a realistic way as possible. The BGM and Ariel shots does adds to the beauty of the Rural life. Raghubir Yadav and Neena Gupta quirky characterization will stand out. I wish Neena Gupta shared a lot of screen space. . Highly recommend this and you wont be disappointed with the desi drama which is devoid of melodramatic moments. Verdict - 3.5/5(A winning formula)
