Person of Interest TV Series Review - If Then Else

I admire Jonathan Nolan work a lot, though he is less famous that his brother Christopher Nolan . He is the brain behind one of my all time favourite movie Memento. He is just an incredible story teller. Brimming with ideas and concepts beyond our imagination he is just a revelation. The man deserves a standing ovation. Before his famous west world, he started a fictitious sci-fiction crime drama in 2011 spanning across a 5 years to finish. With a massive 103 episodes and 5 seasons, i was reluctant to watch it. Once i started it, i never wanted it to end. Fully utilizing my 3 hour commute every day, i finished the entire series in less than a month in 2018. This is one of the smartest and compelling AI show. The plots and twists are unpredictable. This high concept story is backed up by some terrific characterization. The first two seasons was just OK as each episode is distinct, but from Season 3 it just picks up momentum and its serialized onwards. The episode starts with a voice over narration. You are being watched. The government has a secret system. A machine that spies on you every hour of every day. I know because I built it. I designed the machine to detect acts of terror, but it sees everything. Violent crimes involving ordinary people. Crimes the government considered irrelevant. They wouldn't act, so I decided I would. But I needed a partner. Someone with the skills to intervene. Victim or perpetrator, if your number's up, we'll find you. The key is "The machine" just spits out a number and the good guys needs to find out if they are Victim or perpetrator. Nolan did shell out all the tricks he has and keeps us guessing in each episode. Things become super exciting when a new AI Samaritan is born and ends up in wrong hands. The fight between two super AI kick starts and who will triumph at the end is something to experience. The last season felt hurried to me and finale was not explosive as i thought, it was very emotional but the ending was apt.

Verdict - 4/5(Deus ex machina)
